Sadly, Steve Prefontaine did give everything he had. I don't know if Sarge's comment was a reference to how he died, but I still remember when I heard about in class one day - we were all so stunned we couldn't speak. Even Ed Hartzell (kissyface will know who I mean).

No, not a reference to how he died. Just an observation that you can't keep your throttle firewalled all the time. That's an excellent recipe for burnout.
