When they froze the horse

the sky blanched too
and all the men said
it was just the way life plays sometimes

but the fires wouldn't start
so the air breathed in and out thicker
unsure
the sun withdrew
into the dreamy haze
of smokey wicker
when things fall apart

That's some powerful stuff,Kissyface. thanks. It really reminds me of a scene from Curzio Malaparte's Kaputt about horses freezing in Lake Ladoga in Finland. It was similarly horrifying and poetic.

I DIDN'T QUITE REALIZE THE DEPTH OF THIS UNTIL I SENT IT TO A BUDDY IN MINNESOTA WITH MANY HORSES AND BEGAN TO GET IMAGES OF THE LENGTHS HE MIGHT GO TO TO KEEP HIS HORSE WORLD FROM FALLING APART...
